The Prince and Princess of Wales have attended the Hayes Muslim Center to see first-hand the humanitarian work of colleagues who went to the earthquake-stricken area of Syria and Turkey.
They have been told about the impact of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria
There they were told about the impact of the catastrophe, especially on the most vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly, and the importance of the aid that is arriving, including shelter, food and vital trauma care.
On February 6, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook the two countries
In the early hours of February 6, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northwestern Syria, leaving more than 50,000 dead and 24 million affected.
They have collaborated hand in hand
The couple met with representatives from the school who, thanks to collections and donations, have raised more than £25,000 to help earthquake victims. Kate and William also joined two pupils from Waldegrave School, Dila Kaya and Lina Allkutubi, and their teacher, Natasha Rustam, to help make an origami crane, a symbol of hope and healing in difficult times.
They have learned about the work of different institutions and communities
Finally, the Prince and Princess of Wales met with other communities that have made efforts to raise funds as part of the relief effort. Among them, the Turkish Women’s Association, which has managed to raise £10,000.

Saleh Saeed, Chief Executive of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), said, »The Royal Family is always incredibly supportive when the DEC has to launch an urgent appeal to help communities affected by a large-scale disaster. It was inspiring to show Their Royal Highnesses the fantastic fundraising efforts of the community here today».
Kate and William have already made a personal donation in February
In February, the Prince and Princess of Wales made a personal donation to the British earthquake relief fund for Turkey and Syria.
Kate has shown off her style and elegance, with sobriety
