Back to family reunions
After two years without enjoying family gatherings at New Year’s Eve, this year we have spent the whole month of December taking advantage of every moment we can to get together with our loved ones. SOURCE: (EUROPA PRESS)
Enjoying food and company
We missed getting together around a table and enjoying a good lunch or dinner, with the best company, without looking at the clock… and with the only concern of enjoying ourselves.
Not worrying about food
Normally, at this time of the year we tend to neglect food. And the fact is that in these meals there are many dishes that we eat that we hardly reject. The good atmosphere and these copious meals tend to produce feelings of heaviness, discomfort… but they can also affect our body weight.
Moderation and good habits
When we think of Christmas we already take for granted that it is normal or usual to end these celebrations with a couple of extra kilos, but the truth is that we only need a little restraint and good habits to achieve a perfect balance between enjoying the food, the guests and maintaining our body weight.
Avoid alcohol
First of all, we must avoid alcohol, since we stop consuming many calories if we do not drink wine, beer or distilled beverages.
Aid digestion
Instead, it is preferable to drink water with meals, as it aids digestion, as well as to chew each bite perfectly.
Breaks between courses
We must also take a break between courses to avoid overeating.
Enjoying every meal
We should never face a meal with a crazy attitude, without being aware of what we eat. We must be aware of what we eat so that we can enjoy each dish… and eating more does not mean that we enjoy more, since many times we eat with anxiety and we do not savor the food to the fullest.
For dessert, fruit is best
And finally, whenever we can, it is advisable to choose fruit for dessert, which does not mean that we do not eat the typical Christmas sweets, but always with control. Pineapple, kiwi and apple are fruits that not only favor digestion, but also bring a lot of color to our tables and help us feel less heavy.
