With Christmas just around the corner, it is time for traditions associated with the most endearing dates of the year. And one of them, the Christmas greeting from the Spanish Royal Family, which this year has two absolute and unique protagonists, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.
Unlike the ‘Christmas card’ of 2021, in which the King and Queen and their daughters posed in the gardens of the Zarzuela Palace, this time Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have ceded all the protagonism to the sisters, who in the new Royal ‘postcard’ show complicity and affection as they have rarely done publicly.
And the image with which the Royal Family congratulates Christmas this year could not be more tender, with Sofia hugging Leonor protectively while both look at the camera with a huge smile. Turned into two girls at 15 and 17 years old respectively, the youngest daughter of the King and Queen and the Princess of Asturias boast the special relationship they have, if possible even closer since the heir to the throne went to Wales to study the International Baccalaureate in August 2021.
Against a background full of yellow and reddish autumn leaves, the sisters show off their natural beauty with casual looks in keeping with their age; while Leonor wears jeans and a cream sweater, Sofia opts for black pants and a striped sailor sweater. If there is one thing the sisters have in common is their long loose hair, although the Princess opts for open waves to give volume to her hair, and the Infanta prefers to wear it completely straight.
A beautiful image that has not transcended when and where it was taken, although everything suggests that it could be from this weekend, since the Princess of Asturias, on vacation at UWC Atlantic College, returned to Madrid on December 9.
Although Leonor and Sofia are the absolute protagonists of the ‘christmas’, the King and Queen are also present in the greeting of the Royal Family with this brief message: «Very affectionately and with our best wishes», signed by Don Felipe, Doña Letizia and their daughters.
