Infanta Sofia will follow in her sister’s footsteps
News regarding the academic training of the Infanta Sofia. The youngest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia, who will turn 16 next April, is currently studying 4th year of ESO at Santa María de los Rosales school, but, as announced by the Royal House through a press release this Monday, from next year she will study the International Baccalaureate at the prestigious boarding school UWC Atlantic College in Wales, following in the footsteps of Princess Leonor. The Infanta will begin her new academic career in August 2023
It will be in August when the youngest daughter of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will begin her International Baccalaureate studies in Wales, whose cost amounts to 74,000 pounds for the two courses, after having passed the selection process required of any student, as announced by the Royal House in the full statement that we transmit below:
A prestigious and world-renowned institute
Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain announce that Her Royal Highness the Infanta Sofia, as well as the Princess of Asturias, will attend the International Baccalaureate program of the United World Schools at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales, United Kingdom.
The Infanta passed the selection process
The Infanta Sofia has also successfully undergone the entire selection process required by the United World Colleges Spanish Committee Foundation (UWC Spain) www.colegiosmundounido.es.
Sofia will be able to carry out numerous activities
The academic program runs over two academic years (2023-24 and 2024-25) and includes both science and literature subjects. This program is completed by a common interdisciplinary course on theory of knowledge, a research monograph, as well as a special creativity program such as theater, music, art. Action, i.e. sports and an activity involving community service such as support in local schools, work with children with intellectual disabilities, senior citizens, first aid, maintenance of nearby coasts and forests, control of environmental pollution rates, care and recovery of animal species, maritime rescue, coast guard, among others.
Like her sister, she will live in the academic center
She is expected to join the school between the end of August and the beginning of September. The Infanta Sofia will also reside, like the Princess of Asturias, in accordance with the boarding regime that the UWC Atlantic College has established within its campus.

The cost of the international baccalaureate that the Infanta Sofia will attend will also be paid in full personally by Their Majesties the King and Queen with their annual allowance and amounts to the sum of 74,000 pounds sterling for the two courses.
