Enjoying food
Many of us do not associate eating well with the pleasure and enjoyment of a good meal, but the truth is that it has nothing to do with that. Eating a balanced and healthy diet does not mean that we cannot enjoy the food we eat, but it does involve control.
Feeling good
For many years we have been hearing about foods that bring us happiness, or rather, foods whose nutrients give our brains a feeling of well-being. Here are nine foods that give us this feeling in our body… take note and don’t miss any of them.
Blueberries
Blueberries have a complete nutritional profile and are an ideal mood-boosting food. They taste delicious and are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, helping to activate positive responses and signs of wellbeing in the brain. As well as other fruits, such as blackberries or berries like Acai.
Fermented foods
Gut health is linked to emotions; regular intake of probiotics increases the neurochemicals of happiness (dopamine and serotonin). Fermented foods such as kombucha, kefir and tempeh are therefore perfect for improving our well-being. They also help to control weight, reduce inflammation and boost the immune system.
Vegetables
Obesity has always been linked to diets poor in fruit and vegetables. Lack of vitamins and minerals can lead to low mood, so vegetables, especially dark green leafy ones, are very helpful in improving our mood. They also contain a lot of vitamin C and magnesium, two molecules that are essential for transforming thyroxine and tryptophan into the famous serotonin and dopamine.
Salmon
Fish in general, but salmon in particular, are high in Omega 3, an essential amino acid linked to mood regulation and well-being. In addition, other treasures of the sea, such as oysters, are high in selenium, also linked to happiness.
Bananas
Their nutritional profile is rich in important substances for the body, such as vitamin B6, tryptophan and potassium, iron and magnesium, also related to mood.
Honey
(Although make sure it is pure bee honey). It is very beneficial for the brain, as it contains quercetin and kaempferol, two substances that contribute to good brain health. Honey helps to release serotonin, which elevates mood and relaxes. It is also a very versatile product in the kitchen and can be used to sweeten many dishes without the harm of refined sugars.
Ginger
Ginger is an effective food for accelerating the metabolism, preventing heart disease, combating migraines and strengthening the body’s defences. It is an effective solution for digestive problems or menstrual cramps. It acts as an anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxant and natural aphrodisiac.
Nuts and dried fruits
They are an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts and cashews are rich vegetable sources of tryptophan, the ally of happiness.
Chocolate
Eating chocolate provides us with several of the chemicals we need to be happy. In addition to its taste, what gives us a sense of well-being is that it activates and accelerates the production of serotonin and stress control.
