The new year arrives with a new color palette, with three shades that cover the entire chromatic range and stand out for being extremely flattering. Our trend experts give us a sneak preview of the colors that will be a hit in the new year and share their tips on how to make the most of them.
Dark Chocolate Brunette
Dark browns and brunettes are evolving to become deeper and more seductive. As Mónica Duque, director of Salón Seensay in Santander, Spain, explains: «We are coming from a season in which many women have opted to darken their manes and return to naturalness, and with Dark Chocolate Brunette we are going one step further. Now we are looking for luxury in the hair, through this rich, shiny and delicious color, like almost pure chocolate».

«Although at first glance it may appear to be worked as a block, it includes very subtle nuances that add movement and density, always moving in the dark range. Polished finishes will be the best allies to emphasize all its brightness and luminosity,» adds Duque.
Aspen Blonde
Aspen Blonde is the name given to Bella Hadid’s blonde hair color, which promises to be one of the most popular. According to Mª José Llata, director of Llata Carrera hair salon in Cantabria, Spain: «The aim of this shade is to recreate a virgin blonde, which brings us back to the colors of childhood».

«To create it, we lighten the hair but without taking it too far away from the base blonde or brown and work in beige, butter and even honey highlights. The combination of cool and warm shades makes this color very suitable for all types of women. Another advantage is that it is quite easy to maintain, because it does not have a strong root effect, but it is important to keep adding color so that it does not fade.

Selected by the Pantone Institute as Color of the Year 2023, Viva Magenta finds its own trend in hair. Charo García, director of Ilitia Beauty & Science in Vizcaya, Spain, says: «Viva Magenta is a version of crimson red that is very striking and full of personality».

It can be worked as a block over the entire hair, combining cooler or warmer shades depending on the skin tone, or as highlights or specific color details.
