The opening of the world’s first official Formula 1 exhibition has taken place in Madrid. President and CEO Stefano Domenicali together with the curator of the exhibition, Timothy Harvey were in charge of officially opening the exhibition in Spain, which has been the first venue to host the exhibition that will run until July 16, 2023.
First official exhibition in the world
Formula 1. The Exhibition» is the official exhibition of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The exhibition spans 73 years of the sport and has been designed, curated, produced and directed by Round Room Live and Pathfinder Studio.
Will be in Madrid until July 2023
From July 16, 2023, when the exhibition ends its stay in Madrid, it will travel the world for an initial period of nine years.
Will visit the entire world
Each presentation of the exhibition will last approximately four months and will be held in museums, galleries or exhibition halls in major cities around the world.
An unprecedented exhibition
Formula 1. The Exhibition» combines iconic artifacts, personal accounts of great athletes and industry ephemera, historic and unprecedented contributions from 80 of the sport’s most celebrated drivers, designers and directors.
A collection of unforgettable pieces
Among the highlights already announced are the remains of Romain Grosjean’s car that crashed in Bahrain in 2020 in the Survival room, Pierre Gasly’s car that won his first race at the «Miracle of Monza» that same year, and the first public display of a Scuderia Ferrari power unit.
The exhibition is spread over six rooms
Visitors begin their journey at »Once Upon A Time In Formula 1,» where a series of never-before-seen photographs transport fans to the sport’s most iconic and defining moments.
A vision of cutting-edge technology
As they pass through the »Design Lab», they are taken inside a Formula 1 factory to explore the modern design, testing and manufacturing process, with an exclusive insight into the cutting-edge technology used by Pirell, exhibition sponsor and global partner to the sport of tires, and a unique look at the journey of a Formula 1 tire.
Celebrates great drivers and legendary races
Drivers & Duels» features a design inspired by racing circuits and celebrates the most iconic drivers and legendary races since Formula 1 began.
It provides insight into major aspects of innovation
Revolution By Design» presents the dazzling innovations of Formula 1 and explores the new technologies that await us.
It ends with an unparalleled cinematic experience.
The show reaches its climax in »The Pit Wall,» an immersive, cinematic experience that allows fans to relive the greatest moments in Formula 1 history like never before.
A unique exhibition in the world
The exhibition offers a narrative adventure through these six scenographic environments that offer a different perspective of Formula 1 over the course of 90 minutes. The exhibition features more than 350 objects with contributions from nine Formula 1 teams, as well as individuals and organizations including: Classic Team Lotus, The Senna Foundation, Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly, British Racing Motors and many others.
Will travel around the world
Several years in the making, the exhibition combines spectacular audiovisual design, never-before-seen films and images, engineering and educational displays, sculptural pieces and iconic Grand Prix cars to offer an unforgettable experience for everyone from avid fans to younger fans and families.
