Camila Parker, the other protagonist at the coronation
The coronation of King Charles III of England has given much to talk about throughout this year and especially in recent weeks, but the truth is that there is another name that has resonated strongly in the media for the importance it has had on the day of the coronation: Camilla Parker.
She is now queen consort
The woman who has always been by the side of the now king is now officially ‘queen consort’, a dream she never believed could come true.
A history of more than 50 years
The relationship between Camilla and Charles has existed for more than 50 years: first as an impossible love and later as the victorious relationship to all the impediments they had had throughout their lives. In 1973 she married Andrew Parker-Bowles despite her feelings for the prince and advised him to find the perfect woman to build the marriage they could never have, or so they thought at the time.
Princess Diana said ‘I do’.
In 1981, despite his obvious attraction to Camilla, Prince Charles and Diana of Wales starred in the most international ‘I do’ in history. She was the perfect person for a man who had already made controversial headlines and who was looking to settle his head, but, above all, his image as future heir.
Camila attended the wedding between Charles and Diana
Lady Di saw it from the very first moment, in fact, the very day she swore eternal love to her husband she felt uncomfortable with the presence of Camilla at the ceremony, something that was not expected, but that shattered the much remembered princess, and since then, nothing was the same. She knew, from the beginning and until the end, she was aware of the clandestine relationship her husband had with Camilla, and, in fact, she came to name it as one of the main factors why their relationship failed.
Citizens against Camila
In 1992, what was an open secret happened: the announcement of the separation of Prince Charles and Diana of Wales, a fact that shocked all citizens, but that caused the total rejection of the future heir. People took a stand in favor of the ‘People’s Princess’ and the suffering she had endured throughout her marriage due to the lies and humiliations she had endured from her husband.
Two years after Diana’s death, Charles and Camilla were spotted together for the first time
What happens next we already know by heart: in 1995 the Parker-Bowles family divorced and two years later there was the fateful car accident in which the beloved Lady Di died. However, it was not until 1999 when Prince Charles and Camilla were seen together for the first time after their divorces: on the birthday of her sister.
A rejection that continues to this day.
For many, love triumphed, others never bought that the woman who had made Diana of Wales suffer the most ended up with Prince Charles and the rejection is palpable even today. In fact, with the death of Queen Elizabeth II of England last September we saw how Lady Di’s name was used to remember the relationship between the two and the differences between the two funerals.
Camila, always with Carlos
Camilla managed to marry the man of her life in 2005, it was then when she received the title of Duchess of Cornwall. Since then she has accompanied her husband to all his appointments in his official schedule, gaining prominence and managing to win some hearts among the fans of the British royal house, but still without having the affection of all the English people.
